Bio


Dr. Holly Barbour went to medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and remained there for a residency in Ophthalmology. After her residency, Dr. Barbour did a two year Oculoplastic fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Why Ophthalmology? The eyes and the orbit and all their associated structures are the most complex part of the face, needing to be both beautiful and functional. Dr. Barbour also trained in microsurgery, the perfect blend of working with her hands and on the tiniest structures with the tiniest instruments (she cut her surgical teeth working under a microscope). She then decided on the subspecialty, Oculoplastic (or more recently titled, Oculofacial) and Reconstructive Surgery. From the start, Dr. Barbour became enamored in ocuplastic and reconstructive surgery.The year Dr. Barbour applied for her Oculoplastic fellowship, there were only nineteen of them available in the country. She spent two extaordinary years at Duke University Medical Center. After over 900 operations of nothing but lids, orbits and faces, Dr. Barbour arrived in Sarasota in 1993. A year later she opened her own practice, and as the old artist resurfaced more and more, Dr. Barbour realized that even if she wasn\'t destined to save lives, she could really improve the quality of them. By the end of 1999 Dr. Barbour\'s practice had segued, driven by patient demand, to become completely cosmetic. Over the years, she has taught extensively in addition to
